Tree of Delight

What is it like to delight in someting?  My children are delighted when they get an ice-cream cone.  I am delighted when my husband and I have a meaningful conversation! In Psalm 1 it talks about a what happens to a person when their delight is in the Lord and compares it to a tree.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord
and in His law He meditates day and night.
And he will be like a tree firmy planted by streams of water,
which yeilds its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither,
and in whatever he does he prospers.

Can you imagine a tree that fits this description?  Oh I can, it is full, beautiful and solid.  The birds make their nests among its branches, and others are invited to rest in its shade.  It yields lucious fruit that not only satisfys but also gives beauty that all admire.  Its leaf does not wither, even in the trials of winter.  I can't imagine desiring anything more beautiful than to be like that kind of tree.

As I begin to create and maintain this blog, I want to communicate the many ways I am "Radically Redeemed" by my Lord.  He wants all His children to be like this delightful tree in Psalm 1.  However, sometimes life's circumstances become like a mountain which casts a dark shadow over everything we do,  this is when we really need to encourage one another.   It is my prayer to delight in Him with all my heart and to encourage others to do the same.  It is my hope that others will leave encouraging comments for me and anyone else who reads the blog.  Thank you for reading, and please share your stories of how you are radically redeemed!

Redeemed—how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child, and forever, I am.
  • Redeemed, redeemed,  Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
    Redeemed, redeemed,  His child, and forever, I am.
Redeemed and so happy in Jesus,
No language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of His presence
With me doth continually dwell.

I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long;
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.

I know I shall see in His beauty
The King in whose way I delight;
Who lovingly guardeth my footsteps,
And giveth me songs in the night.
